Community Recycling Event at 3476 Main Street Keokuk, IA

The annual Community Recycling Event will be held on Tuesday October 15, 2024 at First Christian Church (FCC), 3476 Main Street, in Keokuk, Iowa. The location was chosen due to its proximity to the Great River Regional Solid Waste Transfer Station where general recycling is accepted. 

The event is organized by the Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Keokuk, and Great River Regional Waste Authority with help from North Cedar Recycling with secure document destruction in an effort to help area residents dispose of unwanted items safely and efficiently. 

One corded item, either an electronic, considered to be used for entertainment, or an appliance will be free to drop off. Additional corded items will be able to be disposed of for a reasonable fee. The three organizations split the cost to dispose of the free corded items that are accepted.

The event is from 7 a.m. to 1p.m. and attendees are asked to enter on the Carbide Lane Side of the FCC parking lot.

ACCEPTED ITEMS
E-Waste/Electronics: Acceptable items include televisions, computers, printers, etc. Items will be sorted on site.

Hazardous Household Waste: Acceptable items include residential-use fertilizers, insecticides, household and auto cleaning products, car batteries, motor oil, oil-based paints, propane tanks, etc.

Appliances: Acceptable items include microwaves, hot water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, dishwashers, furnaces, dehumidifiers, washers and dryers, etc.

Secure Document Destruction: Free for personal paperwork - drop off paper items, such as bills, bank statements, etc., for secure document destruction by North Cedar Recycling. Businesses will cost $0.10 a pound.
